Pearl Frog
So what about this Pearl Frog - where did that cockamamie name come from?
Hippie nicknames... Mike had been called “Frog,” and Sue got tagged “Pearl.”
So those names kind of stirred around in our lives for several years and one night we
found ourselves sitting around a bonfire in the sierra of Ecuador - up in the hills above
Otavalo - with some Cuerpa de Paz friends and some Indios Ecuatorianos . We were
drinking a local brew and getting acquainted and somehow the frog nickname came up
and the Otovalos were impressed. It seems the frog, La Rana, had a special place for
them as a symbol of health and healing. So we adopted the name that night and decided we would form
ourselves a company called Pearl Frog. Pearl Frog was originally a rep agency in the outdoor recreation business.
However, Sue Anne soon added Pearl Frog’s Good Barking Studio as her artistic bailiwick.
